Wooden Boats-Big Stories-One Unmissable Festival

Hobart’s iconic waterfront springs to life every two years for the Australian Wooden Boat Festival — Tasmania's largest free festival and the Southern Hemisphere’s largest celebration of wooden boats and maritime culture.

In 2027, we return from 5-8 February, with four unforgettable days of tall ships, classic vessels, on-water action, exhibitions, talks, food, film, workshops, live music, and fun for all ages. From the bustling docks to the dedicated kids’ precinct, it’s a vibrant celebration of craft, culture and connection.

In 2025, we cast the net wide to welcome our neighbours from across the Pacific, transforming Hobart into a joyful gathering of global maritime communities. It was a festival to remember — and you can relive the highlights now. Dive into our video and image galleries to catch the spirit of the sea, or jump over to our 2025 program, and start dreaming of what’s to come in 2027.
