Introducing…. BOAT FOLK

We are incredibly excited to announce our latest project, the Boat Folk series. 
The Australian Wooden Boat Festival is delighted to introduce to you our latest project. With another 18 months or so until our next festival, we wanted to keep our wooden boat community engaged, so what better way to do it than with a mini documentary series on some of our local boats, titled Boat Folk. The short films feature local vessels and their custodians sharing their stories and best memories onboard their wooden boats, of all shapes and sizes. 

The aim of this project was to start compiling a visual record of vessels and their present custodians, in order to continue to preserve their stories and histories. We worked with local producer Green Sea Media and journalist Rachel Edwards to film these documentaries over a couple of days, with beautiful background music by local artists Wolfe & Thorn. 

We would like to thank all of the boat folk for their time and effort in producing these films with us and we hope they bring some joy to those near and far, and show off just why wooden boats are so special here in Tasmania. 

Presenting, Boat Folk – INDI. Indi represents a working man’s dream to sail the world. Her steadfast construction and honest interior conjure ideas of “getting things done”. On decks and below there is no fancy work, her hull lines display that understated beauty typical of any fine work boat. Reuben Kent and father Graham share custody of her now and explain why she is such a beautiful functional weekender.
