Incat's China Zorrilla, the world’s largest battery-electric ship
Some of what makes the Australian Wooden Boat Festival possible is highly visible. Some of it happens quietly in the background. Incat Tasmania is part of both.
Since coming on board with AWBF officially in 2022, Incat Tasmania has played a practical role in bringing the festival together, while also contributing to the experience on the water, including the construction of pontoons used across the event.
Did you know?
Incat Tasmania provides year-round storage for the festival, including housing the shipping container that carried our exhibition to the Auckland Wooden Boat Festival. It’s a behind-the-scenes contribution that helps extend the reach of the festival beyond the waterfront.
In 2025, that partnership stepped into view with the introduction of the Incat Floating Stage, a purpose-built platform for live music and performance on the waterfront. The stage will return in 2027, continuing to showcase musicians and performers as part of the festival program.
As one of the world’s leading shipbuilders, Incat Tasmania is known for designing and building high-speed vessels that operate across the globe, including the world’s largest battery-electric ferry, and continues to play a role in shaping the future of sustainable maritime transport.
We’re grateful to the Incat Tasmania team for their support, innovation and willingness to get behind the festival in ways that are both practical and creative.
