Our intrepid Media Manager, Daryl Peebles, visited the 29th Australian National Bonsai Convention at Hobart recently and took this photo of a bonsai Huon pine tree, presented in a bowl and displayed on a plinth made of the same valuable timber.
Daryl said he resisted the temptation to harvest the tree and build an exceptionally small bonsai dinghy for the Model Boat Exhibition at the next MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival in February.
On a more serious note, this does give our readers an idea of what a Huon pine tree actually looks like before our talented artisans turn it into the many magnificent Huon pine boats displayed at the MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival.
