Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival
July 17, 2017Letter from the Chairman – July 2017
July 17, 2017Peter Scott of the Sydney Amateur Sailing Club is no stranger to the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, having been involved that club’s participation at the festival over many years. It’s always great to welcome the Sydney yachts as they come up the Derwent with wet sails and big grins on their faces. Peter writes to say:
As you know the yachts from the Sydney Amateur Sailing Club have made the epic journey from Sydney to Hobart many times over the years. Sometimes racing, sometimes cruising, but now most often to participate in the AWBF. For the last 45 years in Sydney we have had our own, much smaller, celebration of these classic boats called Gaffers Day. We do feel a spirit of kinship with the AWBF and think that the two events work well together to promote wooden boats. On behalf of the club I would like to extend an invitation to any of your members to visit Gaffers Day – Sunday 8 October 2017.
