December 10, 2015[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Photo: Galina Romalis[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Royal Hobart Regatta and the Kettering Wooden Boat Rally will be connected this summer for the first time by Hobart’s tall ships Windeward Bound and Rhona H. You have a chance to join them on Sunday 7 February or Monday 8 February, 2016 for an exciting sail on the lovely River Derwent. Join your ship at Elizabeth Street Pier in Hobart for a morning start, allowing around three hours to reach Kettering, where you’ll be in the middle of all the action as local yachts and skippers battle it out on the water. Where better to see all the action close up than from the deck of your own chartered ship? Ticket prices include meals and refreshments and transport by luxury coach back to Hobart in time for dinner. If you’re keen to be part of the action at Australia’s oldest maritime event, board your coach early on Monday 8 February (Regatta Day public holiday) for the 50-minute run to Woodbridge or Kettering, where you’ll join your ship for an exhilirating sail up the Derwent to join the Parade of Classic & Wooden Boats at the Royal Hobart Regatta.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1152″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Photo: Dave Calder
There couldn’t be a better Christmas present, if you’re still looking for something for that boat-obsessed family member or friend. You’ll put a grin on their face with the promise of an exciting day on the water aboard one of these superb wind-driven ships. Or just spoil yourself – let someone else take the wheel while you savour a nice glass of Tasssie sparkling wine and enjoy the view. Either way, this is a great way to get out on the water and make the most of our beautiful river in high summer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1154″ img_size=”400×300″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1153″ img_size=”400×300″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Three photos: Rob Oates, Ballantyne Photography
