A taste of what’s coming to Gotta Love Tassie Seafood at AWBF 2027
The Gotta Love Tassie Seafood Marquee will be back at the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in 2027, bringing some of Tasmania’s seafood personalities, producers and experiences to the Hobart waterfront.
As we count down to February, here’s an early taste of what’s coming.
Meet Squizzy
Fisherman, ocean lover and star of Aussie Lobster Men, Squizzy will bring fresh lobster, plenty of stories and a passion for sustainable living to the Gotta Love Tassie Seafood Marquee.
For Festival visitors, it’s a chance to hear directly from someone whose working life is closely connected to Tasmania’s waters and seafood industry
Tasmanian Wild Seafood Adventures
Also joining the program is award-winning Tasmanian Wild Seafood Adventures.
Winner of the National Seafood Experience Award, their deep-to-dish experiences take guests from Tasmania’s wild waters to the seafood on the plate, celebrating the people, places and produce behind the state’s seafood industry.
Australia’s Oyster Shucking Champion
Australian Oyster Shucking Champion and multiple Tasmanian titleholder Zoe Jacobson will also be part of the action.
Zoe made history in 2026 as the first woman to represent Australia at the World Oyster Opening Championships in Galway, Ireland, adding another chapter to an already impressive shucking career.
Festival audiences will have the chance to catch Zoe in action at the Gotta Love Tassie Seafood Marquee in 2027.
Think you can shuck?
For the first time at AWBF, the Gotta Love Tassie Seafood program is also inviting amateur oyster shuckers to put their own skills to the test.
Whether you have a tried-and-true technique or simply reckon you’re pretty handy with an oyster knife, the Amateur Oyster Shucking Competition is a chance to get involved and join the action.
Volunteer at Gotta Love Tassie Seafood
Want to experience the Festival from inside one of its busiest and tastiest spaces? Volunteers at the Gotta Love Tassie Seafood Marquee help with food preparation and presentation, support chef demonstrations, serve tastings, assist with audience engagement and keep things running smoothly between sessions. It’s also a great chance to meet visitors, work alongside the program team and learn from some of Tasmania’s seafood professionals.
